Week-long exhibition-cum-sale of Gandhi Books organized by Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal to commemorate 69th Gandhi death anniversary

Participation of youngsters boosts sale of Gandhi books

The exhibition-cum-sale of books on and by Mahatma Gandhi, organised recently by the Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal and Gandhi Book Centre, has received good response with books worth Rs 2.12 lakh having been sold between January 30 and February 4.

Financial assistance has been provided for the initiative by Babulnath Mandir Charities and Mahalaxmi Mandir Charities.

The exhibition-cum-sale received overwhelming response from the readers as the books worth about Rs 2.12 lakh were sold during the six days.

Books in four languages viz. English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati were sold at the exhibition. In the present world of modern technologies like iPhone, tabs and e-books, it is difficult to believe that many people are still interested in buying Gandhi books. The sale proves that Gandhiji's teachings are relevant than ever.

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 68th death anniversary coming up January 30, a Gandhian organisation in Mumbai is once again offering enormous discounts on books about his life.

The Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal and Gandhi Book Centre is offering upto 50% discount on 250 titles written by and about Gandhiji and Vinoba Bhave in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. These are being sold from January 27-February 3 at a makeshift mandap at Hutatma Chowk, Fort, as well as in its own premises at Gandhi Book Centre, Nana Chowk, Tardeo. The timings are from 11.00am to 7.00pm.

There is an overwhelming response to Exhibition-cum-Sale of Gandhi Books. About 16,508 Gandhi-Vinoba-Sarvodaya books (in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati) worth Rs. 5,15,247/- were sold within six days. 'An Autobiography' of Mahatma Gandhi, and a set of five important books of 1500 pages, 'Selected Works of Mahatma Gandhi' are the top-selling books at the exhibition. About 4,300 copies of 'Gandhi's Autobiography' and 245 sets of 'Selected Works of Mahatma Gandhi' were sold. Other Gandhi books on economics, politics, education, law, religion, health etc. were also popular. We were happy to note that most of those who frequented the stall were youngsters.

There was a tremendous response to Gandhi Books Exhibition-cum-Sale. About 15,440 Gandhi books of worth Rs.3,86,000/- were sold within six days from 30th January to 4th February. 'An Autobiography' of Mahatma Gandhi, and a set of five important books, 'Selected Works of Mahatma Gandhi' were the top-selling books at the exhibition.
